King Sorrow - 4.25⭐️ Booksta, you were right. King Sorrow was definitely worth it - the character work, tension and suspense, and compelling plot worked so well. This is an easily digestible fantasy/thriller/horror that would serve as a great entry point into fantasy for thriller readers. While the character work set this book apart and the tension in the beginning and ending of this book were perfectttt, the middle lost all its tension and suspense and really needed to be edited down to keep the pacing tighter. We hit the ground running in part 1 and I was immediately hooked, the character work was done well and the tension and suspense from the plot had me glued to the book. The first 50ish percent was fun and fast paced, set such a good tone, and had me feeling like this could easily be a 5 star read. The middle section of the book started to lose me just a bit. Not to mention I actually disliked every interlude save the last one. Once we got past the 80% mark, the tension returned and I was back to flipping pages like my life depended on it. With tighter pacing, this could have been a 5 star book for me, but I still highly recommend it - especially for spooky season.
