The Night We Met

by Abby Jimenez · 2026

Larissa is struggling to stay afloat while juggling multiple jobs and mounting debt. Her life is defined by a pivotal, split-second decision made after a concert: choosing to ride home with her boyfriend, Mike, instead of his best friend, Chris. While Chris is the man she truly connects with—sharing books, judging bread, and co-parenting a rescue Yorkie—he remains on the sidelines as her boyfriend's best friend. As Larissa navigates a difficult relationship with Mike, who struggles with alcoholism, Chris quietly supports her, torn between his desire for her happiness and the fear of destroying his friendship. The novel explores the messy, complicated choices of love, friendship, and the longing for a connection that feels both right and impossible.
