Baker Thief

by Claudie Arseneault · 2018

When rookie officer Adèle discovers that the purple‑haired thief who stole her precious exocore also runs the town’s beloved bakery, she’s thrust into a tangled chase that blurs the line between law and crime. By day, Claire bakes croissants at the Croissant‑toi; by night, she pilfers the glowing red gems—exocores—knowing they’re harvested from witches’ souls. The disappearance of her twin, a powerful witch and the source of the most potent exocore, forces Claire to dig deeper, while Adèle’s pursuit becomes a reluctant partnership. As they clash, cooperate, and uncover the dark truth behind the energy that powers their world, their volatile connection deepens into something neither expected. A fresh take on enemies‑to‑lovers, this fantasy debut centers aromantic protagonists and reimagines romance tropes in a world of magic, mystery, and midnight pastries.
