Green rider

by Kristen Britain · 1998

When Karigan G'ladheon flees a school fight and wanders the deep Green Cloak forest, a dying rider crashes into her path, his body riddled with black‑shafted arrows. He is a Green Rider—one of the king’s legendary messengers—who, with his last breath, forces Karigan to swear to deliver a crucial “life‑and‑death” message to King Zachary. Taking his green coat and the golden‑winged brooch that marks the order, she is thrust into a perilous world of shadowy assassins, ancient magic, and a relentless quest that only her horse seems to understand. As the specter of the fallen rider haunts her and dark forces close in, Karigan discovers that the brooch awakens a hidden power within her, turning a runaway teen into the kingdom’s most unlikely hero.
