by David Klass · 2008

When Jeff’s brother Troy is released from prison, the fragile peace Jeff and his family have built in their quiet coastal town shatters. After five and a half years of trying to move on, Troy returns—pardoned for murder, yet still haunted by a darkness that Jeff can’t ignore. As Troy slowly regains the trust of their parents, Jeff sees a chilling glint in his brother’s eyes that foretells another tragedy. When a classmate disappears under violent circumstances, old rumors flare, bullying escalates, and the family is besieged by fear. Isolated from friends and haunted by his brother’s secret, Jeff must decide whether to confront the looming evil or be consumed by it. A tense, atmospheric thriller that explores loyalty, betrayal, and the desperate fight to stop a cycle of violence.
