The Devourer

by Alison Ames · 2025

Seventeen‑year‑old Adrasteia "Adra" Dantes has always dreamed of captaining a ship, but destiny thrust her into the role when her half‑brother Cameron murders their father and steals a priceless treasure map. Taking command of the notorious Worldeater, Adra vows revenge: kill Cameron, reclaim the map, and locate the legendary hoard buried at the grave of the first pirate king. Her quest takes a dark turn when she discovers Cameron’s vessel wrecked and his crew slaughtered, save for a lone survivor. A mysterious sea monster—known only as the Devourer—has been hunting pirates, sinking ships with terrifying ease. Capturing the survivor in hopes of tracking Cameron, Adra learns that to save her crew she must bargain with the Devourer, helping it retrieve something stolen long ago. As vengeance and survival collide, Adra must decide whether to destroy the monster that threatens all pirates or forge an uneasy alliance that could change the fate of the seas forever.
