Little Rot

by Akwaeke Emezi · 2024

When a four‑year relationship ends, Kalu and Aima plunge into Lagos’ glittering underworld to drown their grief. Kalu’s night at an exclusive sex party hosted by his best friend Ahmed sets off a chain reaction that drags a disparate group of five into a vortex of decadence, betrayal and danger. Fresh from a first‑class flight, Nigerian sex workers Ola and Souraya collide with the broken couple, and together they navigate a city where power corrupts, violence lurks, and every decision threatens to upend their lives. In this fever‑fueled weekend, Akwaeke Emezi explores how far love, loyalty, and survival can stretch when the shadows of a corrupt metropolis close in.
