by James S. A. Corey · 2026

The Faith of Beasts is the second volume of James S. A. Corey’s space‑opera trilogy The Captive’s War. In a galaxy torn by an intergalactic war, the monstrous Carryx empire subjugates countless species, forcing humanity and other captives to prove their usefulness or face extermination. The story follows Dafyd Alkhor, a human captive who rises to a position of power within the empire’s war machine, and the enigmatic Swarm, an agent of the empire’s deathless enemy, as they each navigate loyalty, rebellion, and the hidden secrets of a seemingly endless conflict. Themes of alien domination, clandestine resistance, and the struggle to understand an incomprehensible enemy drive this high‑stakes science‑fiction saga.
