Fortune's Wake

by Clark, C L · 2026

Kova of Stormwatch swears an oath to turn her broken heart into a bounty: slay the monsters that haunt the woods, earn enough coin to rescue her love, and return home a hero. To make that promise real she must apprentice under the legendary hunter Sayre Boarbane—who, stubbornly, works alone. When Sayre drags Kova into his grim, salt‑stained world, the promised path unravels. Kova’s mother has vanished, her sweetheart wanders the shore with a stranger, and the very beasts she set out to kill have resurfaced, dragging villagers into the sea. In this dark‑fantasy novella, C.L. Clark blends razor‑sharp prose with immersive world‑building, delivering a fast‑paced tale of fraught relationships, loss, and relentless monster‑fighting that hits hard in a compact, punchy read.
