A Psalm for the Wild-Built

by Becky Chambers · 2021

In a world where humanity has achieved a near-utopian existence, the robots of Panga once gained self-awareness and walked away into the wilderness, fading into myth. Centuries later, a tea monk named Dex encounters a robot named Mosscap, who has returned to honor an ancient promise. But Mosscap cannot leave until it answers the question: 'What do people need?' Together, they journey through the wild, asking that question of everyone they meet—and of themselves. A gentle, hopeful novella about purpose, connection, and the meaning of enough, from Hugo Award-winning author Becky Chambers.
