Luck in the Shadows

by Lynn Flewelling · 1996

When Alec of Kerry is falsely imprisoned, his fate seems sealed—until he meets his unexpected cellmate, the enigmatic Seregil of Rhiminee. A master spy, thief, and noble, Seregil offers Alec a chance at freedom by taking him on as an apprentice. Together they embark on a perilous journey across hidden roads, uncovering a brewing war and a dark conspiracy that threatens more than just their lives. As Alec learns the art of intrigue and the true cost of loyalty, he discovers that luck, like the shadows they navigate, is as fickle as the mentor who guides him.
