Senlin Ascends

by Josiah Bancroft · 2013

When the scholarly headmaster Thomas Senlin arrives at the legendary Tower of Babel for his honeymoon, he expects a tranquil retreat among its wondrous machines, exotic beasts and soaring airships. Instead, the bustling bazaar swallows his new wife, Marya, and the tower’s labyrinthine layers—each a self‑contained kingdom of intrigue, decadence and danger—become a maze he must navigate to find her. From opulent ballrooms and eerie madhouses to the deadly corridors of a flying fortress, Senlin is forced to trade his quiet love of books for cunning, courage, and ruthless action. As he uncovers the tower’s hidden politics and confronts betrayal and assassins, the once‑mild‑mannered teacher discovers a resolve he never knew he possessed, turning a desperate search for his beloved into an unforgettable odyssey of self‑discovery.
