Conversations with Friends is a sharply intelligent novel about two college students, Frances and Bobbi, and the unexpected connection they forge with a married couple, Melissa and Nick. Frances, a cool-headed and observant aspiring writer, and her best friend Bobbi, perform spoken-word poetry in Dublin. After meeting the sophisticated journalist Melissa, the pair is drawn into her orbit. Frances finds herself in a strange, intimate, and disorienting flirtation with Melissa's husband, Nick, an actor. As her relationships with Nick, her father, and Bobbi become increasingly complex, Frances must navigate the vulnerabilities of her body and the challenges of youth, as her intellectual certainties begin to yield to a new way of living.
