Wizard of the Pigeons

by Megan Lindholm · 2009

In a Seattle that hums with hidden enchantments, a lone figure known only as Wizard walks the rain‑slick streets. Gifted with the Knowing—a rare magic that lets him hear the secret lives of museum mummies, read fortunes from carnival machines, and hear the city’s whispered warnings—he is bound by strict rules: never more than a dollar in his pocket, celibacy, and a solemn duty to feed the ever‑watchful pigeons. When a dark, forgotten force from his own past begins to corrupt the city’s subtle magic, the portents in graffiti and children’s chants turn ominous. Only Wizard, the city’s reluctant guardian, can confront the looming evil and protect Seattle’s fragile equilibrium, his friends, and his own shattered history. A gritty urban fantasy that blends the grit of a Vietnam veteran’s trauma with the wonder of a modern myth, "Wizard of the Pigeons" invites readers into a spell‑bound metropolis where every cracked sidewalk hides a story waiting to be known.
