The Wicked Bargain

by Gabe Cole Novoa · 2023

On the night of Mar León de la Rosa’s sixteenth birthday, the devil himself arrives to collect a debt their father made—a pact that threatens the souls of the entire pirate crew. Mar is a trans‑masculine, nonbinary teen who secretly commands fire and ice, but even that power can’t undo the bargain. Rescued by the last surviving ship on the Caribbean seas, Mar is forced to choose between surrendering their own soul to save their father or losing him forever. With the devil looming, Mar teams up with Bas, a cocky, charismatic pirate heir, and Dami, a gender‑fluid demonio whose loyalties shift like the tide. Together they must decide whether to wield Mar’s volatile magic for redemption—or risk a fiery, icy death. A swashbuckling Latinx fantasy of revenge, revolution, and self‑discovery.
