Southern Sass and a Battered Bride

by Kate Young · 2021

When Marygene Brown agrees to cater her childhood sweetheart Alex Myers’ murder‑mystery themed wedding on Georgia’s sun‑kissed Peach Cove Island, she expects a busy night in the kitchen—not a real crime. The island’s guests are more interested in the staged whodunit than the notoriously difficult bride, Lucy Carmichael. But when Lucy is found dead, drenched in batter beside the wedding cake, and then mysteriously vanishes, the game turns deadly. Only Marygene can hear her late mother’s sassy ghost, who warns of a dark aura surrounding the celebration. With the help of her best friend Betsy—Alex’s cousin and Lucy’s reluctant ally—Marygene must untangle clues, confront island secrets, and solve the murder before the happy ending turns into a permanent tragedy. Along the way, she shares seven of her beloved family recipes, adding a tasty slice of Southern comfort to the suspense.
