Discontent

by Beatriz Serrano, Mara Faye Lethem · 2025

Marisa seems to have it all: a sleek Madrid flat, a charismatic downstairs lover, and a fast‑track career at a top advertising agency. Yet beneath the polished exterior she’s suffocating in a routine that feels meaningless. When her company forces her to give a creativity talk at a chaotic, drug‑fueled retreat, the façade begins to crumble. Surrounded by ruthless bosses, flirtatious facilitators and a swirl of excess, Marija teeters on the edge of a full‑blown spiral. In this darkly comic, sharply observed novel, Beatriz Serrano captures the absurdities of corporate life and the desperate yearning for more time, meaning, and connection. As Marisa confronts her own discontent, she discovers that reclaiming her life may require embracing the wild impulses she’s long tried to hide.
