Phineas Redux

by Anthony Trollope · 1800

After the death of his beloved wife, the charismatic Irish politician Phineas Finn abandons his quiet life in Dublin and returns to the turbulent world of Westminster. Invited back into Parliament, he finds the political landscape reshaped by scheming alliances, a ruthless press, and shifting party loyalties. Old friendships and rivalries surface—most notably with the enigmatic Madame Max and the steadfast Lady Laura—while a bitter opponent, Mr. Bonteen, is murdered, and suspicion falls squarely on Finn. As his reputation teeters on the brink, Finn must navigate scandal, courtroom drama, and the tangled passions of three powerful women, all while fighting to reclaim his place in a world where ambition and intrigue reign supreme.
