Rogue Squadron

by Michael A. Stackpole · 1996

Rogue Squadron is the opening novel of Michael A. Stackpole’s Star Wars: X‑Wing series, set in the Legends continuity shortly after the Battle of Endor. Rebel hero Wedge Antilles rebuilds the famed Rogue Squadron, recruiting the galaxy’s most skilled X‑wing pilots and subjecting them to grueling training. The squadron undertakes daring, near‑suicidal missions against Imperial strongholds, most notably a high‑stakes assault on the heavily fortified Black Moon. The story focuses on starfighter combat, military camaraderie, and the personal costs of a galaxy‑wide rebellion, presenting a stripped‑down, military‑science‑fiction take on the Star Wars universe.
