Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Miller Hemingway (1899‑1961) was an American novelist, short‑story writer, and journalist. Known for his economical, understated prose, he became a leading figure of the Lost Generation. His works, published mainly between the mid‑1920s and mid‑1950s, include seven novels, six short‑story collections, and two nonfiction books. Hemingway received the 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature. His life included service as an ambulance driver in World War I, extensive travel, and a reputation for a rugged, adventurous lifestyle.
