Ray Naylor
Ray Nayler is an American‑Canadian writer whose work engages with ecology, systems theory, and questions of consciousness and intelligence, including animal and artificial intelligence. He earned a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz, an MA from SOAS University of London, and a PhD from the University of Essex. Nayler’s debut novel, The Mountain in the Sea, won the 2023 Locus Award for Best First Novel and was a Nebula finalist. His novella The Tusks of Extinction won the Hugo Award for Best Novella. He has also written the near‑future thriller Where the Axe Is Buried. His fourth book, Palaces of the Crow, was published in May 2026.
