Herman Melville
Herman Melville (1819‑1891) was an American novelist, short‑story writer, and poet. Best known for Moby‑Dick, his magnum opus, Melville’s career spanned the mid‑19th century, a period during which he explored themes of adventure, morality, and the human condition. Though his works fell out of favor after his death, they were rediscovered in the early 20th century, cementing his reputation as one of the greatest figures in American literary history.
