Ambrose Bierce

Ambrose G. Bierce (1842 – perhaps 1914) was an American journalist, satirist, and short‑story writer known for his caustic wit and dark humor. He gained fame for works such as The Devil’s Dictionary and the 1890 short story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. His writing often combined sardonic commentary with horror and a strong sense of the macabre, earning him the nickname “Bitter Bierce.”
