Joseph Conrad
Joseph Conrad (1857‑1924) was a Polish‑British novelist and short‑story writer. Though he did not become fluent in English until his twenties, he mastered the language and is celebrated for his richly textured prose and psychological depth. Many of his works, including Heart of Darkness, draw on his experiences at sea and his observations of colonial exploitation. Conrad is considered one of the greatest writers in the English language, influencing modernist literature and the literary impressionist movement.
