Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury (August 22, 1920 – June 5, 2012) was an American author celebrated for his imaginative short stories and novels that blend poetic style, nostalgia for childhood, social criticism, and warnings about runaway technology. Best known for works such as Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Dandelion Wine, Bradbury wrote across fantasy, horror, and what he called “word magic.” He began publishing stories in the late 1930s, sold his first professional piece in 1941, and produced a prolific body of short fiction, novels, essays, and screenplays. In 2007 he received a Pulitzer Special Citation for his distinguished career. He famously said that libraries “raised” him and that he wrote to “live forever.”
