Virginia Evans
Virginia Evans is an American author whose debut novel, The Correspondent, was published in 2025 by Crown Publishing Group. After writing seven unpublished manuscripts, she completed The Correspondent as a writing exercise during a period of personal hardship, including caring for a sick father‑in‑law and the COVID‑19 lockdown. The novel earned the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel, the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and topped the New York Times Fiction Best‑Seller list in 2026. Evans cites influences such as Stoner and 84 Charing Cross Road, and the character Sybil is partly based on her mother‑in‑law.
