The Eye of the Leviathan is an alternate‑history fantasy set in a seventeenth‑century Spanish Golden Age where the Inquisition hunts not only heretics but also fae. Changeling Estevan takes a mortal girl’s place to infiltrate Spanish society and uncover how the Council of the Sea Beyond has been plundered for its magical islands. The human he replaces, known only as the Hungry Girl, survives among the fae and later returns to the human world, caught between colonial exploitation, religious persecution, and her own quest for purpose. The novel weaves real historical figures and events with a magical ocean beyond the Pillars of Hercules, exploring colonization, oppression, identity, and resistance through dual POVs that blur the line between hero and villain.
