Emily Brontë (1818–1848) was an English novelist and poet. She published Wuthering Heights under the pseudonym Ellis Bell to avoid the prejudices faced by female authors of the 19th century. Her work is noted for its poetic storytelling and its reflection of her own experiences with loss and the natural world.
