Mark Billingham was born and raised in Birmingham. After stints as an actor, TV writer and stand‑up comedian, he published his first crime novel in 2001. He is best known for the Tom Thorne series and also writes as Will Peterson with Peter Cocks. Billingham lives in North London with his wife and two children.
