Eve Babitz

Eve Babitz was born in Hollywood, California, the daughter of artist Mae and classical violinist Sol Babitz. Her parents were friends with Igor Stravinsky, who served as her godfather. She gained early notoriety in 1963 when she was photographed playing chess with Marcel Duchamp. Known for her unique voice and perspective on the L.A. cultural scene, she authored several books that blended fiction with her own life experiences.
